What to Do in a Dental Emergency
If you’re experiencing a dental emergency, don’t hesitate to call our office right away. Our team will guide you through steps you can take at home to minimize discomfort and, if necessary, schedule an immediate appointment to address the issue. For after-hours emergencies, we provide contact information for urgent assistance.
Common Dental Emergencies
- Toothache: A severe toothache may indicate an infection or other underlying issue. Contact us immediately if you experience sudden, intense pain.
- Broken or Chipped Tooth: Preserve any broken pieces, if possible, and rinse your mouth with warm water. Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling and call our office for further assistance.
- Lost Filling or Crown: Keep the affected area clean, and avoid chewing on that side until you can visit us for a replacement.
- Knocked-Out Tooth: Handle the tooth by the crown (avoid the root) and, if possible, place it back in the socket. If that’s not feasible, store it in milk or a saline solution and seek immediate care.
